Dispatches - The Truth About Your Food

This clip is from a program called 'Dispatches The Truth About Food'.This is a great example of a documentary that follows the typical codes and conventions of a documentary, using simple camera angle and shot. The way the camera focus on the subject matter is by mainly consistently focusing in close ups moods using pans at eye level view.

As you see with lots of documentaries to heighten the expectations of the viewer, the program is edited to begin with.A clever factor that introductions the program including small clips from the program. There is usually accompanied with a soft middle class voice over that produces the impact of whats going on ,The idea is to give a short brief summary on what the program is about.

In this program/episode the theme is aimed to investigate Britons issues surrounding food and the intake by people. There are different aspects involved in this program, one of which is a interview with a family and the goal is to prove and make the family aware of issues surrounding food.

I think the style of this type of documentary follows a much different style to other which we have looked at but equally the techniques and styles shown are of interest to us as they can present different ways of looking at various issues.

Dispatches takes a harsh line in showing to us as the audience, facts and figures in a direct in your face manner. The ways they do this is by including the public, they ask individuals randomly to see how much then know regarding the subject.

Factors that we want to take from this example ?

- The way facts and opinions are presented.
- Including the general public to enhance the documentary theme.
- Editing and sound.
- The way it tackles the same issue but using different styles, E.g. different case studies instead of one example.
