In order to develop and uncover what we actually want to produce we carried out some planning consisting of mood boards,Mind maps for our documentary :
Mood board :-
The image below is a initial mood board i produced when thinking of all the relevant and closely linking sources that apply to are documentary.There are screen shots from types of documentaries of interest,channel logos that produce these types of documentary and iconic individuals that have told their story of disability through the camera.
First thing that we looked at is ' Setting'.Which we want to create a realistic life like realism:
UK,set in a tradition British house,a very normal standard home feeling to the setting.With the edition of City and public surroundings to show the full insight to the characters life.
The theme was are next big factors that we wanted to identify:
The theme that we want to create is distress and presenting the character as vulnerable.Through the way we show the character and their life we will use very normal everyday shots such as being in the home environment.The objective is to presents the character as very unhappy and show the disability that they have to be badly effecting their life.
Types of places it would be distributed :
Due to the natural of the Genre and type of moving image we are creating which is documentary the best place that it would be most successful in is through TV programs such as channel 4 documentary series or BBC.Places that people would expect and look to watch this type of viewing material.
Types of characters and behaviours presented:
We want to present one character with a clear strong disability that we can play to are strengths and show the conventional ways of representing disability.We want to show actual visual issues that can be seen by the viewer.For example bad behaviours,struggle and emotional distress.
Types of viewing for example,camera,editing and sound :
We want to use standard camera shots that give a sense of very normal tracking shots that follow the character.Fly on the wall shots to show the characters home life.Editing that overlaps and has a range of voice overs and low level sound.Appropriate sound tracks should be used to enhance the disability theme.
